One of Stork's very first projects was creating a birth announcement video of 5-week-old Sienna. Several years later, her brother Spencer was born and we created a new video to reflect the growing family. Now, it’s baby Alex’s turn, and with her, the family says: “We are complete!”
Update! Turns out, the Siegfried family wasn't complete after all. :) Soon, we're looking forward to creating a 4th family video to introduce baby Aiden. Stay tuned!
Siegfried Family: Spencer
One of Stork's very first projects was to create a birth announcement video of 5-week-old Sienna. Here she is now, 2 years later, and a big sister to baby brother Spencer. An updated family video was called for.
Meanwhile, the family has grown some more! Check out a 3rd video to welcome Alexandra to the family, and stay tuned for a 4th (yes 4th!) video to include Baby Aiden. :)
Meerschwam Lin Family: Jamie
Joe and I founded Stork after the birth of our first child, Jamie. With a background in film, we naturally pulled out our cameras and edited little videos of him to share with family and friends.
Each year on Jamie's birthday, we would release a larger, more substantial video that reflected on the year before. What was the previous year all about? And how could we tell that story in a way that was compelling and allowed us to practice elements of our craft?
Here are the videos so far, all 6 and counting... Our hope is to slowly build toward a complete video library of his childhood. Only 12 more to go! :)
"When I Build Legos I Feel Very Happy" – A Beat Poem
For Jamie's 6th birthday, we decided to focus on his love for Legos. First we interviewed him to gather his thoughts. Then we took quotes from the interview and structured them into a beat poem (of sorts). Finally Jamie performed the beat poem in a studio setting, which we then interspersed with time-lapse B-roll of him building a variety of Lego sets. Needless to say, it was one of his favorite videos to make.
"The Things You Know"
Birthday #4: With all the emphasis on learning new things, we decided to take a look at all the amazing things Jamie already knows...
For Jamie's third birthday, we decided to interview him to hear his own thoughts on his third year of life. It turned out to involve a lot of animal sounds.
Day in the Life – A Rhyme
Jamie's second year was all about learning language. That's why we incorporated his very own words into this special birthday rhyme. "Day in the Life" chronicles a typical day in Jamie's life, filled with all the wonderful little idiosyncrasies of an almost 2 year-old.
Jamie's First Year — By the Numbers
For Jamie's 1st birthday, we created 10 mini-films that captured his first year in numbers. Watch "Estimated Number of Diapers Changed", "Pieces of Clothing Only Worn Once", "Amount Spent on Toys", and more.
How it all started: our own baby boy was born late 2009. Caryn shot and Joe edited and within 3 days all of our friends and family scattered around the world learned Jamie's name and saw his face for the first time.
Meerschwam Lin Family: Julian
Each year Joe and I, the founders of Stork, make a special birthday video for our son Jamie. Over the years we often quipped that considering the amount of work involved in making these videos, we couldn’t possibly have a second child.
Welcome to the world, Julian. Here is your first video:)
During a temporary stay in New York, the Cline family asked us to create a vignette that captured the “simple pleasures and daily blessings” of their family life. They wanted a reminder of this precious time in their young children’s lives as well as a souvenir of their home-away-from-home.
They sent out this film as a 'video holiday card' to friends and family across the country and back home in Virginia.
Before a cross-continental move from the US to Israel, we created a time-capsule for the Goldsmith family, to celebrate and remember their lives in America.
We met as strangers in the elevator of Trader Joe's. Catherine had her one-year-old Oliver in her stroller and I had my one-year-old Jamie in mine. "Jamie Oliver!" Catherine joked.
Over the next 4 years we became fast friends. We spent afternoons together, dinners, days at the Museum of Natural History. Our sons bonded over shared interests like Thomas & Friends and Wild Kratts.
Last year they announced that they would move across the country to San Francisco. On their last weekend here, we made this video for them: a time capsule of their lives in New York City.
Stork Films' very first video featured the birth of Scarlett Mykenzie. Now Scarlett has a little brother! This video was made in honor of his first birthday. Happy birthday, Sterling!
Toby and Matt celebrate Teddy's one year birthday with a poem and a film. They then shared it on Facebook and their own website, to the delight of their friends and family around the world.
Sienna – Birth Announcement
Shannon and Greg announce the birth of their beautiful baby girl, Sienna. "We love it, so does everyone we've sent it to! So glad we did this with you! We will treasure it forever. Glad the cats made it in too, they were our first 'kids'!"
Update! After Sienna, Shannon and Greg had 3 more children. We created updated family videos for each of them. Here is Spencer's, here is Alexandra's, and stay tuned for Aiden's!
